The Sturgis Police Reserves are a supplement to the Full-time Police Force and receive several months of training before going "out on the streets". They are Certified with the State of South Dakota and are qualified to perform as Full-time Officers. We take great pride in our Reserve Force.  These Officer's are a volunteer group that donate their time away from their families to serve the people of Sturgis. They must give at least 8 hours a month in active duty to remain Certified. Most donate more time than that. They do this because they enjoy Police work and because its a way to serve their community. Anyone interested in becoming a Reserve Police Officer should contact Asst. Chief Branden Bestgen for more information.

The Sturgis Police Reserves also belong to and manage the Sturgis Police Association. An organization of officers that provides support for the reserves as well as the regular officer's and  the Police Department. All of the reserves are members as well as some of the regular officers.
